Zambia

2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Mudiro. Building on twelve years of experience in strengthening healthcare in Namibia, we are now laying the foundations for a focused and structured approach in Zambia.

In strategic partnership with the Keepers Zambia Foundation, we work with local healthcare facilities in selected locations. We deliberately focus on involving fewer international medical professionals, allowing for more intensive, targeted placements tailored to the needs of local healthcare teams.

Our Medical Focus Areas in Zambia

Pediatrics
Internal Medicine
Gynecology / Oncology

These three medical specialties form the core of our current clinical focus. Specific placements and training programmes are developed in close collaboration with local healthcare teams and partner institutions, ensuring they are tailored to the actual needs on the ground.

Chipata First Level Hospital – Lusaka

At Chipata First Level Hospital, the focus is on practical clinical training and bedside teaching. International medical professionals work alongside local doctors, clinical officers, and nursing staff, sharing their expertise directly in everyday clinical practice. The goal is to integrate knowledge into daily patient care and empower local healthcare professionals to pass on their skills and expertise within their own teams.

Siavonga Hospital – Lake Kariba

In Siavonga, Mudiro combines hospital-based medical training with addressing the unique challenges of healthcare in rural communities. The focus is on bringing together clinical education, targeted medical specialties, and, where appropriate, outreach programmes. Our goal is to ensure that knowledge transfer extends beyond the hospital walls, strengthening healthcare services in communities outside major medical centres.

University Teaching Hospital (UTH) – Lusaka

Collaborating with specialised departments at University Teaching Hospital creates opportunities for advanced medical training, professional partnerships, and targeted diagnostic pilot projects. Mudiro aims to bring international expertise together with existing local knowledge and skills, developing new approaches in close collaboration with local healthcare specialists.

Keepers Zambia Foundation

Mudiro works in strategic partnership with Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF).

Established in 1996, KZF is a Zambian non-profit organisation with extensive experience working with communities, local institutions and public-sector structures across Zambia. Its work focuses strongly on capacity building, sustainable development and strengthening local systems.

For Mudiro, KZF is an important local partner in supporting the organisational and administrative integration of our work in Zambia and in facilitating collaboration with healthcare institutions, government authorities and other local stakeholders.

Together, we aim to strengthen existing structures and develop programmes in a way that ensures knowledge, responsibility and long-term impact remain within the country.
