Namibia
Mudiro’s journey began in Namibia. Since 2014, Mudiro has worked in the north of the country, particularly along the Kavango River, providing medical education and professional training, supporting local healthcare professionals, and collaborating with hospitals, government institutions, local communities, and other partners.
Over twelve years, this work has built lasting relationships, trust, practical experience, and a deep understanding of what sustainable knowledge transfer means in everyday medical practice.
Our work in Namibia remains an important part of Mudiro’s story. At the same time, it provides the foundation for our next chapter: bringing the experience, lessons learned, and proven elements of our approach to Zambia in a structured and sustainable way.
Our Fields of Engagement
Since 2014, Mudiro has worked in northern Namibia, particularly along the Kavango River near the border with Angola. The region is home to approximately 200,000 Kavango people, representing several communities and cultural groups. Rundu, the regional capital, is Namibia’s second-largest city, after Windhoek.
Healthcare access varies significantly across Namibia. While urban centres such as Windhoek and Swakopmund benefit from more developed infrastructure and medical facilities, rural communities in the north face considerable challenges in accessing adequate healthcare services.
Limited resources, shortages of medical professionals, and insufficient opportunities for continuing medical education have contributed to these inequalities. Throughout its work in Namibia, Mudiro has sought to help address these challenges by supporting local healthcare professionals and strengthening medical knowledge and skills.
Collaboration with local communities, healthcare institutions, and government authorities has always been central to Mudiro’s approach. By empowering people and strengthening local expertise, Mudiro aims to support sustainable improvements in healthcare that continue long beyond individual projects.
