MUDIRO – MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE THAT STAYS
From Namibia to Zambia – Sharing Knowledge. Strengthening Healthcare Systems. Multiplying Impact.
After twelve years of building and strengthening healthcare capacity in Namibia, our focus has now shifted to Zambia.
Our work centres on medical education and professional development, bedside teaching, and train-the-trainer programmes.
Knowledge that lasts.
Mudiro Mission
Mudiro provides local doctors, clinical officers, and other healthcare professionals with access to practical, hands-on medical training and continuing education. International specialists work directly alongside local healthcare teams in their everyday clinical practice – through bedside teaching, structured training sessions, and, where appropriate, outreach programmes in rural communities.
At the heart of our work are knowledge sharing, mutual learning, and strengthening local expertise. Our goal is for each placement to contribute to lasting skills, established practices, and local trainers who can continue sharing their knowledge and strengthening the healthcare system long after our international teams have left.
Our mission is not to treat as many patients as possible ourselves, but to leave behind as much knowledge as possible.
Mudiro in Zambia
2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Mudiro. Building on twelve years of experience in strengthening healthcare in Namibia, we are now laying the foundations for a focused and structured approach in Zambia.
In strategic partnership with the Keepers Zambia Foundation, we work with local healthcare facilities in selected locations. We deliberately focus on involving fewer international medical professionals, allowing for more intensive, targeted placements tailored to the needs of local healthcare teams.
Your Medical Expertise Can Make a Lasting Difference.
Mudiro is looking for experienced doctors and healthcare professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge through hands-on training and are open to working within a different healthcare system.
The goal of each placement is not to treat as many patients as possible, but to work alongside local healthcare professionals, sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and strengthening local expertise.
Current Projects
Namibia – 12 Years of Impact and Experience
Mudiro’s story began in Namibia. Since 2014, Mudiro has been developing medical education and training programs in the northern part of the country, particularly along the Kavango River, supporting local healthcare professionals and collaborating with hospitals, government agencies, communities, and other partners.
Over the course of twelve years, relationships, trust, practical experience, and a deep understanding of what sustainable knowledge transfer means in everyday medical practice have been built. This work remains an important part of Mudiro. At the same time, it now paves the way for the next step in our development: systematically transferring our experiences, lessons learned, and proven elements of the model to Zambia.
